At YT, we’re not just staying on top of med spa trends, we’re often defining them. Our passion for innovation shines through our extensive 6-hour MedSpa Course at the Annual YT Seminar, but here are a few blog-worthy trends to mention in the meantime:

Implementing Ozempic/Semaglutide Programs in Med Spas

Given the staggering statistic that nearly half of the U.S. population reported trying to lose weight in 2022, the demand for effective weight loss solutions like Ozempic and Semaglutide is undeniable.

A graph showing how many people want to lose weight.

For those practices and med spas that believe in the efficacy and safety of utilizing weight loss and appetite-suppressing methodologies such as Ozempic and similar derivatives, the traffic and revenue opportunity is real. Patients are seeking this service, and they’ll likely go to your competitor if you do not offer it. This era of weight loss management is changing rapidly, and we’re constantly honing the best practices for implementing these programs, based on our experience working with practices across the country.

Currently, one of the most common mistakes we see in practices implementing these programs are undercharging for the membership, especially considering the staff time needed to educate patients on the phone, conduct the initial consultation, and provide ongoing follow-ups. Like any efficient aesthetic or out-of-pocket medical service, charging appropriately to ensure there is a budget to deliver superb service and results is paramount. Let’s review a few tips to improve med spa and non-surgical sales results, and outline why charging a reasonable fee is prudent.

Utilizing a Non-Surgical Patient Care Coordinator (PCC)

Who should book non-surgical consultations in your practice? The front desk? A PCC? Anyone who answers the phone? Assigning the right person to book these consultations is crucial to maximizing revenue from medical spa services. For instance, for an interested patient, your PCC identifying a desire for RF microneedling, or a syringe or two of filler during the same visit, adds an extra $500-$1,500+ in revenue for only an additional few minutes on the phone and live.

The key, however, is that you must have a sophisticated communicator gather the patient’s goals by phone, and then giving them key information to prepare them. And aside from these easy add-ons and up-sells, a well-trained PCC  will create comprehensive, holistic treatment plans for all of your patients to ensure they utilize everything in your med spa that can help them achieve their goals.

Get Yourself Some Exosomes and Low-Level-Laser-Light Therapy

On the topic of bundling, exosomes are a hot topic right now – especially with consumers seeking more natural non-invasive solutions and make for an easy add-on (or bundle-in) to aesthetic treatments. Whether bundling these in microneedling dermabrasion or hair restoration treatment packages, they can improve patient outcomes, speed up healing times, and lead to higher patient satisfaction.

Plus, considering the value they add to treatments, it’s easy to promote these as a premium upgrade or simply include them in your treatments at a higher price point. Make sure your entire team is well-versed in the science and benefits of exosomes and laser light therapy, so they can confidently communicate this to your patients. If you need tips on which in-office or at-home laser devices and exosome options are right for you, our team is available.

Man Up for Wellness

Hopefully, this isn’t necessarily a “med spa trend” and more “men taking care of themselves,” but male-focused med spas, or creating a male-focused “carve out” to your existing non-surgical practice, are becoming increasingly popular. This is possibly due to the concept’s prevalence on social media, celebrity endorsements, or popular brands leaning into the trend. There’s demand for male-centric treatments, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to attract more dudes to your med spa! Have a dedicated menu of services targeted towards men (think hair restoration, men’s sexual wellness, body contouring, and special skincare bundles), promote male-focused treatments on your social media and collaborate with male influencers, create an introductory offer for guys-only, and ensure that they have a seamless, unintimidating visit once they get your office.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to med spa trends, so get ready for a much deeper dive into these trends and more at the 14th Annual YellowTelescope Training Seminar’s MedSpa Course in Scottsdale, AZ on October 18th, or 19th, 2024.
